Removed old asphalt, improved the base which had been sand and replaced it with RAP. We opted to let the new base settle a couple weeks, then lay binder and worked around the weather to lay the finish layer on a sunny day. Joe advised taking the time between layers, to avoid what happened with the previous driveway, and he carefully graded it away from garage. The work could have been done in 1-2 days but we opted to take the time. More expensive to bring equipment back 3 days but believe worth it in the end. Increase in estimate given in the Fall was reasonable considering oil price rise over winter.
